Zatch and Tia: A Fierce Combination is the thirtieth episode in the Zatch Bell! anime series.

Short Synopsis

Zatch is still paralysed by Purio's poison gas attack. With Tia managing to hold off the attacks, Kiyo gets an idea. Using Purio's slime as glue, Kiyo attaches Zatch to Tia's back allowing Zatch to move and attack. They manage to defeat and burn Zoboron and Hige's book. Purio who gains a new spell, uses it to create a smokescreen and escapes. Kiyo, Zatch, Megumi, and Tia spend the rest return to the amusement park. Kiyo asks Tia what Zatch was like in the Mamodo world and Tia replies that she does not know Zatch's family. Later, Megumi takes Kiyo with her to leave Tia and Zatch alone to allow Tia to give Zatch a bentō she made for him. They continue to spend the rest of the day at the park.

Long Summary

The episode begins with Zatch Bell and Kiyomaro Takamine thanking their friends for their help, Megumi Ooumi tells them not to worry since this time it's their turn to return the favor when they helped them last time; Aunt appears enraged to end the fight for ruining her date at the amusement park. Hige orders a speed attack with Purio and Lupa but Zatch still can't stand up so Aunt and Megumi protect them, Purio stays in front of Aunt and Lupa from Megumi who tries to protect her mamodo but sees how she strangles Purio's neck for telling her that she will be his girlfriend; Lupa leaves to help Purio but Megumi does a judo lock on her and slams her into the ground.

Lupa showing great skill begins to do somersaults and grabs Purio between her legs, when they return to their initial position they decide to do another attack since Zatch still can't move; however Purio and Lupa don't want to attack again since Hige only gives orders while Aunt gets angry with her enemies for not attacking. Taking advantage of this situation both human companions position themselves with the other mamodo, so Hige runs next to Purio and Lupa takes Zoboron placing themselves in a situation that corners their rivals; Aunt prepares to defend the Dogurak that Zoboron and Hige just launched but Hige starts to spin around grabbing Purio by the feet and Lupa casts the Dareido spell.

To defend both spells at the same time Aunt and Megumi decide to use Seoshi but it is broken by Dogurak, they realize that Seoshi is not that powerful because of Dogurak and Aunt ends up with a huge bump on her head while saying that she will not give up; Aunt remembers that she is always very busy with Megumi so she does not plan to waste a free day. Aunt wakes up crying and Megumi decides to go on the attack with Saisu , this catches Hige by surprise who uses Purio as a shield who gets very angry and Lupa angrily returns Zoboron to him; the four realize that they can still win and decide to attack as a team while Kiyomaro prepares a plan.

Kiyomaro sees that there is still sticky liquid on the ground from the previous attack and explains his plan to his companions. Tia does not seem to agree with the strategy but they manage to convince her that there is no other solution; Kiyomaro goes on the offensive with a Zaker but his enemies manage to dodge it. Hige thinks that Zatch can now move but Lupa tells him that it is impossible since he has failed due to not being able to stand up to aim. Tia appears in the cloud of dust and Hige orders Zoboron to cast a Dogurak; Megumi manages to read the Ma Seshield spell and stop the rival spell with her shield.

Hige grabs Purio saying that they are still 2 mamodos at full power and Aunt jumps and then turns around to see Zatch stuck to her back, Hige realizes that they have joined together using the remains of their previous spell but at that moment Lupa approaches from behind to grab his arms and release Purio; Hige admits that he did not want to use Purio as a shield while Lupa reproaches him for precisely that and Zatch begins to open his mouth to cast his spell. Kiyomaro pronounces Zaker causing a large ray to shoot out of Zatch's mouth towards Hige and Lupa who is right behind him holding him, both fall to the ground and their respective mamodos approach with their spell books while Purio cries because he does not want to lose after all the training they have had; these words wake Lupa and also his spell book begins to shine strongly discovering a new spell.

Lupa approaches Hige so that with the new spell they can win the battle but Hige gets up and starts arguing with her for letting him take most of the damage, Lupa tries to solve the problems but Hige gets so angry that he decides to attack alone using Oru Dogurak and Megumi reads the Ma Sheshield spell so that Aunt manages to stop the attack; between the cloud of dust Hige appears to give a big punch to Aunt and Zatch begins to notice that he is recovering so he gets in the way to receive the blow. Hige asks Lupa why she has not mentioned that the effect of her spell disappears so quickly but she and Purio laugh at him, Hige begins to jump angrily as does Zoboron but Purio says that his belly bounces when he jumps and decides to draw a face on his navel; Hige looks at his belly and starts to fool around making his companions laugh non-stop.

Zatch can't stand anymore since the previous spell is still affecting him so Aunt helps him sit on the ground and they decide to attack the books directly to burn them, both Aunt and Zatch tell Megumi and Kiyomaro to use attack spells even though they can't see anything because of the cloud of dust from the previous Zaker; both decide to do so relying on their mamodos while their rivals stop fooling around and just at that moment Aunt and Zatch attack with Saisu and Zaker respectively. The combination of both spells causes an orange ray to hit their rivals and Zoboron's book starts to burn while Lupa protects Purio's, while Zoboron disappears Kiyomato and Megumi reunite with their companions and Lupa decides to use the new Mokerudo spell ; Aunt and Megumi protect their friends with Seoshi but it turns out to be a simple smoke screen and their rivals decide to escape while they still can't move because of their protection spell.

Aunt starts yelling at them but stops chasing them and minutes later she is seen taking Kiyomaro to an attraction but like Zatch he does not reach the height of 1'20 to be able to ride, Aunt completely frustrated says to hit him with a hammer so he gets a bump and thus be taller but Megumi takes her to another where she can climb; Aunt gets very nervous because the cars are very high and also move a lot so Megumi who has ridden with Zatch decides to move her car so that Aunt has a bad time with Kiyomaro. Later the four characters are seen on the grass having the lunch that Megumi has prepared and Kiyomaro takes the opportunity to ask Aunt about Zatch's past while he plays with his Vulcan 300 , Aunt is distracted watching Zatch but manages to tell Kiyomaro that Zatch is an only child and Megumi decides to take part in the conversation; Megumi tells Kiyomaro how a wounded Aunt strongly opposed them reading her spell book.

Aunt tries to play with the Vulcan 300 while Megumi offers her food and Aunt is seen very nervous with a box that she wants to give to Zatch while he thanks her for helping him in the battle, Kiyomaro sees the box so he tells Zatch that they have made him the food but Aunt gives her food to Kiyomaro which surprises Megumi because in truth that was for Zatch; Kiyomaro can't believe the large amount of food there is so Megumi helps him by taking him to buy drinks and Aunt decides to give her food to Zatch since he is very hungry. After eating everyone goes to ride various attractions and at dusk Megumi says that she has loved this day so Kiyomaro invites her to spend another day like that, then Zatch appears saying that it has been a day in which everything has gone well; finally when Zatch declares that he prefers to eat Yellow Tail before Aunt's food she jumps from her horse on the merry-go-round to strangle him.
