The Magical Giant Soldier Faudo. The Light in the Middle of Despair. Kiyomaro's Secret Plan is the one hundred and thirty eighth episode of Zatch Bell!/Konjiki no Gash Bell!! anime and the thirty eighth episode of Season 3.

Synopsis

The Demonic Giant Soldier Faudo awakens from the destruction of his seal and the humans whose power that was sought out by Riou were finally free as well. In the events following Faudo’s revival, Riou takes control of the large demon and offers safety from Faudo’s rampage to those who choose to become his subordinates. Despite the overwhelming odds against their survival, Zatch, Kiyo, and their allies continue to oppose Riou as Kiyo had secretly prepared traps while using the device that can return Faudo to the Mamodo World. For the next five minutes, the group work together in evading Faudo’s attacks and stalling the large demon until one of the special traps Kiyo had set up can activate.

Full Summary

The curse that was placed on Li-en and the other bookkeepers vanished

From the destruction of Faudo’s seal, the Demonic Giant Soldier itself finally comes to life. The humans that had been cursed by Riou to carry out the objective of destroying the seal were finally freed as well, and Zatch’s group briefly celebrate this. Not before long however, everyone standing on top of Faudo feels a violent tremor as Faudo begins to move. While reaching his hand into the ocean, everyone witnesses how effortlessly Faudo is able to annihilate a small island and how quickly he is able to swallow a whale whole. Amazed by his power, Keith suddenly realizes Riou is no longer with them and has taken control of Faudo for himself. Upon establishing himself as Faudo’s master, Riou orders Faudo to cease his rampage and Faudo becomes obedient to his order. Angered that Riou had acted so suddenly, Keith and Rodeaux attempt to attack him while he stood before them in the air, but see that their attacks go through him. Riou goes on to then tell them that he had already been aware of their ulterior motives but isn’t intimidated by their threats as he is in full control of Faudo. To demonstrate Faudo’s power, he orders Faudo to fire his main cannon and he immediately blasts a large laser towards the ocean, creating a massive explosion.

After making everyone witness Faudo’s power, Riou reveals that he is located somewhere inside Faudo’s brain that only those with a special key may enter. He continues by then giving everyone remaining on Faudo’s head a choice to become one of his subordinates and be transported to safety or be left to hopelessly fight against Faudo’s power on their own. While different teams of demons begin making their way to be beamed up by Riou to safety, Kiyo informs Alishie and his other allies that weren’t with him earlier that they found the device to return Faudo to the Mamodo World, but it will take ninety minutes for it to activate. Despite the odds stacked against them, a light of hope shines from Kiyo’s eyes as he assures his allies that the traps he had set up for Faudo will ensure their survival until the device activates and explains to them what they must do now.

After teleporting out the demon teams who chose to side with Riou, Faudo’s hand begins destroying the ground that Kiyo’s allies were standing on. As everything begins to crumble, Kiyo reminds everyone that their first task is to survive five minutes against Faudo before one of these traps activates. Soon after this, Faudo completely destroys the remaining ground on top of his head and the group manage to get away just in time and land scattered around Faudo’s neck. Riou commands Faudo to use his ten finger laser gun to destroy everyone on its neck but sees that this weapon was tampered with as it aims his lasers around randomly and misses them. Riou then realizes that both this and Faudo’s main cannon had been acting strange. He begins to notice that Kiyo, as the leader of his group, is someone resourceful that everyone looks towards for hope while in the middle of despair. Because of this, Riou decides that Kiyo must be eliminated first and orders Faudo to attack him. As Faudo’s fist comes towards them, Kiyo and Zatch attempt to stop it by casting a series of Zaguruzemu before following it up with Zakerga. This attempt fails however, but both Li-en and Alishie react by casting their most powerful spells to move Faudo’s fist away from them. Despite their power, this only barely moves it out of the way. Tia and Megumi rush in to cast Ma Seoshiiru but the shield instantly breaks against Faudo’s power. Ponygon and Sunbeam make it just in time however to rescue the four of them, but everyone on Faudo is flung off of his body from the force of impact that Faudo’s fist makes.

Kiyo explains he had teleported Faudo into the Kermadec Trench to stop his rampage

As Kiyo and Zatch fall, one by one their allies move close and hold onto them while affirming the promise they made to save everyone and to not abandon any of their allies. With everyone committed to working together, Kiyo calls on his allies to combine their powers for them to all land safely. With the help of Kanchome, Karudio, and Momon, the team land safely on a frozen ocean surface. As he looks towards Faudo, hope continues to shine in Kiyo’s eyes as he remains more determined than ever to protect everyone and save the world. With Faudo about to attack them again, Folgore, Sunbeam, and Kiyo cast Dima Buruku, Dioemuru Shudoruku, and Rauzaruku respectively to help carry as many allies as possible. After dodging Faudo’s fist, everyone travels upward on Faudo’s arm to find the hardest spot for Faudo to attack before moving to his upper body. While watching everyone evade Faudo’s attacks, Riou begins to suspect that Kiyo has been plotting something as he notices that his group are using all their energy just to survive the next few minutes. After thinking about this, Riou orders Faudo to stop fighting and examine his body for anything suspicious. This reaction is too late however as one of the traps Kiyo had set up is finally activated and it teleports Faudo into the Kermadec Trench.

Kiyo's group discover that Faudo can swim

As the group watch Faudo sink into the ocean, they cheer and rejoice as they believe they were finally able to stop his rampage. Just as they think they won, Faudo reemerges from the sea as he is able to swim despite his size. Furious over Kiyo’s meddling with Faudo, Riou addresses him directly and declares that Faudo’s first target will be Japan and that he had also cut off the energy that was being supplied to the device that could return Faudo to the Mamodo World. Kiyo, Zatch, and their allies look toward Faudo in utter despair, watching him swim to his next destination, as it appears all their efforts up to that point were all for nothing. As each of his allies call on Kiyo to react to this, Kiyo reasserts his mission to stop Faudo no matter what and that they must find a way to re-enter the giant demon in order to stop him.

Manga & Anime Differences

• In the anime, Faudo is seen being able to destroy an island just with his hand. In the manga, his sneeze is what destroys it.
• In the anime, the teams of demons that choose to become Riou’s subordinates step into an area of light before being teleported into Faudo. In the manga, they step onto a glowing disc.
• In the manga, Tio tries to use  Saifojio to heal Kiyo while Faudo destroys the ground they’re standing on at the top of his head while Arth and Riya attack Faudo’s face. This does not happen in the anime.
• In the manga, Karudio freezes Faudo’s arm when he hits the ocean, letting everyone travel upwards on it. In the anime, this does not happen.
• In the anime, Riou states it will take 6 hours for Faudo to reach Japan while in the manga, it will take only 1 hour.
