Synopsis

With only a few hours remaining until Faudo’s revival, Kiyo studies the Mamodo World characters under Arth’s guidance, determined to uncover the hidden functions of the device that can send Faudo back. After working through the terminal, Kiyo announces to the group that while it will not be possible to return Faudo immediately after the seal is broken, he has managed to set up the timer function so that the device will automatically activate about ninety minutes after Faudo’s revival. As the first light of dawn breaks over the horizon, Riou and the demons he gathered around him prepare to unleash their most powerful spells against Faudo’s seal, ready to finally break it.

Full Summary

Inside the chamber containing the device that can return Faudo to the Mamodo World, Kiyo asks Arth to read aloud the Demon World characters displayed on the terminal so he can learn to interpret them more quickly. With only five hours left until sunrise, Kiyo assigns tasks to the group so they can be ready once Faudo’s seal is destroyed. While he and Arth work on the device, Sunbeam and Momon are told to figure out the fastest route to the seal, and Zatch and Ponygon are asked to divide food among everyone. Before they begin, Arth questions Kiyo about his confidence in both saving the cursed humans and returning Faudo to the Mamodo World. Kiyo explains that the device must have a very specific function that will make this possible, and he is determined to find it in the limited time remaining.

As Kiyo and Arth work, Sunbeam notices Sauza’s concern for Elly, even as Sauza denies it. When asked why he teamed up with Arth and Elly despite his disdain for Mamodo alliances, Sauza admits that he originally fought Arth while tracking Ponygon but stopped when Elly appeared. Seeing how frail she was under Riou’s curse, and reminded of his own younger sister, Sauza couldn’t bring himself to harm her. From then on, he allied himself with Elly so she wouldn’t die. Hearing this, Sunbeam proposes a temporary truce, and Sauza agrees—though he insists they will fight again once Faudo is dealt with. Meanwhile, Zatch and Ponygon distribute food and drinks to everyone, and the group rests while waiting for Kiyo and Arth. Arth reflects that while Kiyo couldn’t master the characters in five minutes as he boasted, he had nearly mastered them in under an hour and was already operating the terminal flawlessly.

Not long after, Kiyo confirms that the device has a timer function that allows Faudo to be sent back to the Mamodo World without returning to this chamber. However, he explains that Faudo cannot be returned immediately after revival due to two problems. First, the device requires five hours and thirty minutes to charge the energy needed to send Faudo back. Second, with only four hours left until sunrise, there will be a gap of ninety minutes where Faudo is active and cannot yet be returned. In that period, they must somehow stop Faudo’s movements. Around the same time, Sunbeam reports that it will take about forty minutes to reach Faudo’s seal at top speed. With three hours remaining until revival, Kiyo resolves to use the timer function and save both his friends and the cursed humans.

Outside by the seal, Riou, Zaruchim, and the Mamodo under his command prepare for sunrise. Tia, Kanchomé, Megumi, and Folgore, imprisoned in a cell nearby, wait with them. While Kanchomé, Li-en, and Alishie worry about Zatch’s group, Tia and Riya hold firm in their belief that Zatch will arrive. Despite lacking the necessary power, Riou orders the gathered Mamodo to unleash their strongest spells as the sun rises over the ocean. A barrage of Dioga-class spells crashes into the seal, shaking the earth, but it holds firm. The cursed humans begin to weaken further as the curse’s time limit nears its end.

Just when it seems hopeless, Zatch and Arth appear riding on Ponygon and Karudio. Arth strikes first, attacking the seal with his strongest sword technique, Gyan Bagyamu Swordon. Zatch follows with three consecutive Zagurzem before finally summoning Bao Zakerga. The lightning charges into the already fractured seal, Bao’s form amplifying into an even greater power. Combined with the force of all the previous attacks, the spell shatters Faudo’s seal. In that instant, the cursed humans are freed from their bonds—and Faudo himself is fully awakened.
