Synopsis[]
As Ted and Jido prepare to leave, Jido's motorcycle breaks down and he orders Ted to go buy a new spark plug. While searching for the bike store with Zatch, Ted smells Cherish's fragrance and spots a girl with long brown hair wearing a hat. He loses sight of her when she crosses the sidewalk. They try to search for her with Ted's description of her scent and Zatch's nose but end up finding other women. Ted and Zatch spots Cherish walking into a department store and search for her in the store. Ted however runs into bullies who drag him away to fight him. Zatch comes and offers the bullies to beat him up in place of Ted so he may search for Cherish. The bullies agree and Ted leaves but returns, feeling unable to abandon a friend, and demonstrates his strength scaring the bullies away in the process. Ted and Zatch find Cherish and realize she was a different person. Jido manages to fix the bike and leaves with Ted who promises he will find Cherish one day.
Full Summary[]
The morning after the battle against Arth, Ted, Gide, Kiyo, and Zatch enjoy breakfast together. During breakfast, Kiyo and Zatch watch Ted consume seemingly endless portions of Hana’s omelettes and savoring every bite of it before hitting the road. Later that morning, Ted speaks with Zatch and Kiyo one last time before he and Gide leave. Ted thanks them for everything and tells them that if they ever meet Cherish, he wants them to tell her that he is looking for her and that he is not her enemy. Kiyo and Zatch promise that they won’t fight her and will help try to get her in contact with him if they ever meet her. After this, Gide drives off with Ted and the group waves them goodbye. Gide drives for a short distance before his motorcycle suddenly breaks down. Inspecting the bike, Gide figures out that all he would need to fix it is a new spark plug. He then hands Ted some money and sends him out to run this errand for him.
Zatch accompanies Ted downtown in order to find a bike shop to buy the part that they need to fix Gide’s bike but Ted quickly realizes that Zatch isn’t sure of where to go to find this. As they try to find this shop, Ted is suddenly distracted by a young girl who shares a similar scent to Cherish. Ted tries to follow this familiar scent but is suddenly stopped by Zatch just in time before he runs into oncoming traffic. Ted becomes frustrated at losing this scent at first but then soon apologizes and explains to Zatch that he believes that Cherish is somewhere in town. Knowing how important finding Cherish is to Ted, Zatch tells him that he’ll help him find Cherish by using his sensitive nose to search for her. Zatch does his best to try and follow various scents that Ted describes to him but to no avail as the scents he follows lead to anything else but Cherish. Seeing that they’ve had no luck relying on scent, Ted suggests that they should start relying on sight.
As they wander throughout the city, Ted spots the same girl who resembles Cherish with long wavy hair and a hat. Following the girl leads Ted and Zatch to a department store where they then find her going up an escalator and into an elevator. Ted and Zatch would then rush up the stairs of the store to the floor the elevator stops at in hopes of meeting the girl. When they get to the top floor and watch as the elevator doors open, they look through the crowd of people exiting the elevator but see no sign of the girl they saw. Despite this, Ted remains optimistic of the situation and soon he and Zatch agree to split up and search for the girl on each floor of the department store. As Ted begins his search, he finds the girl once again and starts chasing after her. As he runs through the store, he pushes aside a group of men in order to get past them. These men would suddenly stop Ted, grabbing him by the collar of his jacket, and threaten to beat him up for pushing them. Hearing Ted continue to call out for Cherish, Zatch follows the sound of his voice and finds Ted being cornered by this group of adults. Zatch bravely steps in offering to substitute for Ted in order to let him continue his search for Cherish. The group of men let go of Ted and turn their sights to Zatch, allowing Ted to run off. Unwilling to allow his friend to get hurt by them however, Ted returns to Zatch and scares the men away by destroying a nearby wall with a single punch.
Later that day, Ted and Zatch talk outside on the balcony of the department store. Just as they do so, Zatch notices that the girl they had been following that day was right next to Ted. When Ted turns to look at her, he realizes that she was not Cherish. Despite not being able to find her that day, Ted still has hope that he’ll be able to find her eventually. As Ted and Zatch return home, Gide confronts Ted about how long he had been gone that day and how he had completely forgotten about what he was supposed to do that day. Regardless of this, Gide informs him that he was able to fix his motorcycle hours earlier. Now finally ready to head out, Ted and Gide wish Zatch and Kiyo farewell and thank Hana for her hospitality. The two teams promise that they’ll meet again someday and Ted and Gide ride off into the sunset. On the road that night, Gide asks Ted about what he did that day that kept him so busy but Ted only responds saying that the town just happened to have good wind passing through it. As Ted looks out onto the city, Ted thinks to himself that he surely will find Cherish someday.
