Synopsis[]
Zeno takes control of Faudo after defeating Riou and initiates Faudo’s high-speed movement, leaving Zatch, Kiyo, and their allies with less than an hour to stop Faudo before it reaches Japan. Zatch and Kiyo are then separated from their allies when they are suddenly teleported into the control room by Zeno, who intends to prolong the fight and make Zatch suffer before eliminating him. While there, Zeno reveals a shocking secret about the connection he and Zatch share.
Full Summary[]
Zatch demands for Zeno to let him in
Kiyo, Zatch, and their allies find themselves locked just outside of Faudo’s control room not long after Zeno and Dufort have taken control of Faudo for themselves. Riya tries to break open the door by using one of his spells, but it proves ineffective. Zatch then begins pounding on the door, demanding that Zeno let him in. Eventually, Zeno teleports Zatch and Kiyo into the control room alone without their allies. Inside, they come face to face with Zeno and see just how identical he looks to Zatch. Before Zeno can finally begin his fight with Zatch, Kiyo demands answers about who he really is. Although irritated by the question, Zeno simply responds that he is Zatch’s twin brother.
Dufort shows his past to Kiyo
After this shocking revelation, Kiyo presses further, questioning Zeno’s motives for taking away Zatch’s memories and making him suffer, but Zeno refuses to elaborate. Kiyo also urges Zeno to stop Faudo before it reaches Japan, but Dufort interrupts, telling Kiyo that such a thing won’t happen and that he himself doesn’t believe the Human World has any value. As Kiyo wonders about Dufort’s reasoning, Dufort demonstrates his ability to read minds and then shows Kiyo his past. He reveals that he was once a test subject in a research facility, subjected to cruel experiments because of the unique power he possessed. Dufort explains that while he was treated as nothing more than an experiment, Zeno was the first person to treat him as human and freed him from the facility. While Dufort feels justified in wanting to destroy the world because of humanity’s cruelty, Kiyo and Zatch insist that the world is still worth protecting and vow to stop Zeno and Dufort.
Zeno shows Zatch and Kiyo that he was the one who lead them to Faudo
Zeno laughs at the idea of them stopping him and tells them they’ve been doing his bidding all along. He plucks a piece of his hair and transforms it into the demonic figure that once appeared in Kiyo’s room to tell them about Faudo. Through it, Zeno reveals that he used them and their allies to distract Riou, allowing him to reach Faudo’s control room with ease. Unwilling to let Zeno use Faudo’s power to destroy Japan, Zatch reaffirms his resolve to defeat him. Zeno mocks the idea, briefly mentioning his resentment over Zatch obtaining Baou without ever enduring the suffering he went through. He then suddenly uses Zakeru to attack. Zatch counters with Zakeruga, but it is easily overpowered by Zeno’s Zakeru, landing a direct hit. Zeno declares that although he could finish Zatch immediately with a stronger spell, he prefers to take his time and enjoy making him suffer. He tells Dufort he won’t need any help for this fight and prepares to face Zatch alone.
Tia protects Zatch from Zeno's attack
Outside the control room, the rest of Zatch and Kiyo’s allies desperately search for a way inside. While they struggle, Megumi and Tia’s group arrives and sees Zatch’s fight against Zeno displayed on a monitor above the door. As Tia helplessly watches Zatch being beaten down, Riya suddenly asks if she likes him, then admits that he does as well and insists they need to become a source of strength for him. Alishie agrees, suggesting they all combine their strongest spells to break the door down. The group carries out the plan, and after repeated attacks, the door finally shatters. They rush in just in time to protect Zatch from another attack. Despite being outnumbered, Zeno remains confident, knowing most of them lack the energy to continue casting spells. He then unleashes Zakeruga. Tia tries to defend with Giga Ra Seushiru, but the barrier quickly breaks, and Zeno’s lightning strikes everyone.
The group gather around Riya as he disappears
Amid the chaos, Zatch tries to convince Zeno that he is his only target and bravely stands to face the next attack. Zeno fires Teozakeru, but before it can reach Zatch, Riya leaps in to protect him, taking the hit. Badly injured, Riya collapses into Alishie’s arms, but in doing so, Alishie drops the spell book. A spark from Zeno’s lightning lands on it, setting it ablaze. As Riya begins to disappear, he apologizes to Alishie for protecting Zatch, but Alishie sympathizes with him. In his final moments, Riya praises Zatch as a man of action and expresses his strong belief that Zatch will protect the world. He makes one last request—that Zatch protect everyone, and that the others, in turn, protect Zatch.
Tia uses her newest spell, Chājiru Seshirudon
After Riya disappears, Zeno orders Dufort to cast another spell strong enough to eliminate everyone else. Zatch tries again to draw Zeno’s focus, but Zeno kicks him aside, leaving him unconscious on the ground. Tia rushes to his side, pleading for him to wake up, but he remains unresponsive. As Zeno prepares to strike, Tia decides she will protect Zatch herself. Her powerful emotions cause her spell book to glow, revealing a spell she had once learned but could not previously use. As Zeno unleashes Jyauro Zakeruga, Megumi reads the new spell aloud—Tia’s Chājiru Seshirudon. The shield manifests, protecting Zatch and the others from Zeno’s devastating attack.
