Put into a Pinch. Q’s Counterattack! The Suppression of Every Spell!? (ピンチ到来 逆襲のQ! 全呪文封殺!?,Pinchi Tōrai Gyakushū no Kyū! Zenjubon Fūsatsu!?) is the 106th episode of the Konjiki no Gash Bell!! anime. This episode first aired in Japan on May 8, 2005.

Synopsis[]

In their clash with Koral Q and Grubb, Zatch and Kiyo quickly learn that most of their spells are useless as Koral Q cycles through multiple battle forms, countering each of their strategies with overwhelming strength and speed. Though Kiyo exposes Koral Q’s bluff by proving he is still vulnerable to Zakeruga, Grubb continually upgrades Koral Q’s power using his computer, even granting him a 30% boost and new transformations to nullify Jikerudo and Rauzaruku. With their options dwindling, Zatch and Kiyo realize that only Zaguruzem and Bao Zakeruga remain as their last hope for victory.

Full Summary[]

During their battle, Koral Q informs Zatch and Kiyo that he had been observing them and their other allies for some time as part of his plan to defeat them all. While Koral Q boldly claims that there is nothing the two of them can do to defeat him, Kiyo remembers how much Koral Q cried in pain when he was attacked by Zakeruga despite being in his battle transformation. Realizing Koral Q is bluffing, Kiyo repeatedly casts Zakeruga on him. As expected, Koral Q is still harmed by the spell, proving Kiyo’s theory to be correct. Feeling defeated, Koral Q suggests to his partner that they surrender to them but Grubb reminds Koral Q that there’s no reason to as his current battle form is not the spell that defends against Zakeruga. Remembering they still have more spells they can use, Koral Q becomes confident and declares once again to Zatch and Kiyo that they have no chance of winning the battle.

Grubb casts Ra Robogaruga, transforming Koral Q into a different battle form. Zatch and Kiyo once again use Zakeruga to attack but see that their spell is easily deflected off of Koral Q’s new form and they are attacked by their own spell. Following this up, they use Bīzamu Roboruga to attack and Kiyo and Zatch then use Rashirudo to defend against it. Koral Q however separates Bīzamu Roboruga into two: one part that will destroy Rashirudo and the other part to attack Zatch and Kiyo directly. Zatch uses his body just in time though to take the blow of the attack and shield Kiyo from it. Realizing that Zatch and Kiyo are stronger than their initial data showed, Grubb decides that he needs to update the data on his handheld personal computer and increase Koral Q’s power through it. Grubb tells Koral Q that this process will take about three minutes and that they cannot be attacked during that time. Koral Q hastily decides that they should retreat from the battle only to soon realize that this is not possible as he was the one who destroyed their escape route earlier.

Meanwhile, Sunbeam and Ponygon run into Suzy Mizuno and she mentions to them that she had last seen Kiyo and Zatch run off chasing after a flying yellowtail. Knowing that this flying yellowtail was part of a trap to lure Kiyo and Zatch, Sunbeam tries to ask Suzy for which way the two of them ran in but is unable to get a clear answer from her due to her poor sense of direction. Luckily, Ponygon suggests to Sunbeam that he should be able to find them. Ponygon leads the way and Sunbeam follows just behind him. During the ongoing battle, Grubb uses the same flying yellowtail to distract Zatch once again in order to buy him and Koral Q some time to update their data. Once complete, Koral Q receives a 30% increase in power which Grubb believes is more than enough for them to defeat Zatch and Kiyo with ease.

Before Koral Q could attack first, Zatch and Kiyo use Jikerudo on him. With Koral Q’s body magnetized, all the steel construction material in their surroundings begin to be pulled towards him. Before this happens, Grubb casts Muromu Roboruku which conveniently turns Koral Q’s body into rubber which deflects all of the incoming construction material. With Jikerudo being of no use, Kiyo casts Rauzaruku to enhance Zatch’s strength and speed to fight Koral Q directly. In response to this, Grubb casts Digou Roboruku, which gives Koral Q another battle form to counter Zatch’s Rauzaruku. When the two of them engage in combat, it becomes evident that not only is Koral Q able to outspeed Zatch, but overpower him as well. With another spell of theirs countered, Kiyo realizes that the only two spells that they can rely on with any hope of winning are Zaguruzem and Bao Zakeruga.

Manga & Anime Differences[]

  • All appearances Sunbeam, Ponygon, and Suzy have in this episode is entirely filler as they have no involvement during these events in the manga.
  • In the anime, Grub uses his handheld personal computer to increase Koral Q’s power by 30%. In the manga, this does not happen and they continiue to use their spells as normal without this.
