Maruss (マルス, Marusu) and Rembrant (レンブラント, Renburanto) are a team who end up pursuing Tia and Megumi early on in the Mamodo fight. Their element is metal. Maruss was originally Tia's best friend in the Mamodo World, caring and looking out for her, compared to her bullying ways against Zatch. But once in the Human World, his mentality changes, believing that friends can no longer be friends due to the nature of the battle and must go against one another to become king.
Maruss is a mamodo with long, blonde, curly hair and red eyes. His outfit consists of a purple vest with a buckle on it and a white shirt with a blue tie. He also wears brown shorts, with white long socks with black pirate shoes. Maruss appears to have very sharp teeth in the present day in the Human World, but not in Tia's flashbacks to their time together in the Mamodo World.
Personality[]
Maruss[]
According to Tia's memories of the Mamodo World, Maruss was once caring, kind and friendly towards her. However, his attitude changed dramatically after the he traveled to the Human World following announcement of the battle to become Mamodo King. Maruss has instead become more ruthless, cruel, violent and prideful. He can also be impatient, bossy, bratty and desperate whenever the tables are turned against him. When Zatch (who he had formerly bullied) was able to not only hold his own, but actually gain the upper hand, he became enraged.
History[]
When Tia and Maruss met for the first time in the human world, he suddenly betrayed and attacked her, sending her into the ocean and leaving a scar on her neck. When Tia survived and is taken in by Megumi, Maruss and Rembrant began constantly pursuing them, taking advantage of Megumi's status as a famous idol to locate and attack them on many occasions. While Maruss was assaulting Tia during one of Megumi's concerts, Zatch comes to her rescue. He held Maruss at bay until both he and Tia's bookkeepers arrived to properly fight against against him. Ultimately it is Zatch, the former "weakling" neither he or Tia cared for, who defeats the prideful Mamodo, which causes Tia to change her attitude about the nature of friendships in the midst of battle.
