Konjiki no Gash Bell!! Unare! Yūjō no Zakeru 2 (金色のガッシュベル!! うなれ!友情の電撃ザケル2, Konjiki no Gasshu Beru!! Unare! Yūjō no Zakeru 2, lit. "Golden Gash Bell!! Wish! Electric Shock of Friendship 2") is a 2D fighting game and the sequel to Zatch Bell! Electric Arena on the Game Boy Advance, released in Japan on December 12, 2004. It was developed by Eighting and was published by Banpresto in Japan.

A North American release of the game entitled Zatch Bell! Electric Arena 2 was planned to be released by Namco Bandai Games but the localization was canceled in 2006 for unknown reasons.[1]

General Information[]

The graphic style follows the same line as the first installment, using 2D graphics with tiny anime-style sprites that have very detailed animations. The biggest novelty compared to the previous one is that voices have been added for the characters that are heard during the fight, and that they were performed by the original voice actors of the anime. The game's musical repertoire is made up of several songs that return from the previous game and other new songs in the same style. The battle scenarios are all new.

The game stands out for its very simple gameplay, where moves and combos are easily performed with one or two buttons and the machine-controlled fighters are quite easy to defeat with the right move. Also included is the possibility of connecting two consoles for versus fights between two players.

Mechanics[]

Konjiki no Gashbell!!: Unare! Yuujou no Zakeru 2 is a fighting video game where the player chooses a mamodo couple to face a duel against a rival couple. The pairs are made up of a mamodo and its human bookkeeper, the player controls both characters simultaneously, but it is only the human whom he controls directly, while the mamodo "responds" to his commands and movements. In each fight, the objective is to attack the enemy to reduce his life bar; when this bar is depleted, the character is defeated. Fights can also be decided by time, when the time limit for a fight is over, the character with the most life wins. Each fight in the game is decided by the winner of 2 of 3 rounds, although the number of rounds can be changed in the options menu.

In Yuujou no Zakeru 2 fights, life is only lost when the human character takes damage, while damage taken by the mamodo does not count. For this reason, the objective is to hit the human, although it is still necessary to attack the mamodo, which always stands in front of the human to protect it. The game allows you to carry out various types of attacks in a simple way, by pressing one or two buttons. Mamodos can perform different types of blows and also combos, while humans can only deliver simple blows that are weak but are very useful when used strategically. Characters can also take cover to take minimal or no damage when attacked. In this game, the counterattack is also implemented, a special human movement that consumes a little power and allows you to stop the opponent's attack and knock him down.

Another novelty is the possibility of weakening the enemy, if you attack him very repeatedly until his portrait turns red. When this happens, the rival mamodo or human becomes dizzy and cannot move, making it vulnerable to any attack. The mamodos' main ability is to cast spells, but it is the human who invokes it. This is why the spell only works when both are standing. To perform a spell it is necessary to have the power bar that appears at the bottom of the screen charged; it charges alone or with a charging movement. Each pair has its own repertoire of spells that have different effects such as shots, shields, hits, recovery or paralyzes. The more powerful the spells are, the more power they consume. Each mamodo also has a final spell, its maximum special attack, which can only be used with a full power bar and spell bar. The spell bar is a small orange bar below the power bar that charges each time the character uses a spell and also when he is damaged. Only when this is complete can the final spell be cast.

Zatch is an electric mamodo that can shoot powerful rays from its mouth. The guardian of his book is Kiyo, a teenage Japanese high school student whom Zatch treats like his older brother. This pair has very balanced techniques in attack and defense and has one of the most powerful final spells in the game.
Kanchome Folgore Unare Yuujou no Zakeru 2

Kanchomé & Folgore
Kanchomé is a bizarre and weak mamodo with the ability to change shape and size. The keeper of his book is the Italian superstar Parco Folgore, an actor and singer who uses his great dancing skills to fight and move in ways that are very difficult to predict. The strange attacks of these characters can only be taken advantage of by expert players.
Tia Megumi Unare Yuujou no Zakeru 2

Tia es una enérgica y extrovertida niña mamodo que tiene la capacidad de generar poderosos escudos defensivos. Penny's spells are based on controlling large amounts of water to hit the enemy.

One of the ancient mamodos revived by Zofis, Victoream is a ridiculous mamodo shaped like the letter "V". Mohawk Ace is a strange gang member brainwashed by Zofis, who activates his powerful spells to shoot laser beams and turn his hands into long yo-yos.

Bari is an extremely powerful and ruthless mamodo who is only interested in destroying his enemies to demonstrate his power and lives in a constant state of fury. Gustav is a serious Russian man who likes to let Bari do his thing while he ponders the meaning of fights. The spells of this team are based on creating swirls of wind that Bari combines with her blows to cause a very severe impact on the opponent.

Zofis manages to find the stone tablets where the mamodos slept from 1,000 years ago and revives them to be his personal army. Zofis' spells are based on shooting energy rays that paralyze the opponent and explosive projectiles that increase in power depending on the spell.

A joke couple formed by Naomi, the evil little girl who always bothers Zatch in the anime, in the role of the fake mamodo. And next to her, Makoto Raiku, the author of the manga caricatured as the human companion. Since they cannot use spells, Raiku uses the ability to summon secondary characters from the anime to help him.

Vulcan 3000 & Raiku
Raiku again appears as a character, but this time he brings the Vulcan 3000 robot as a false mamodo. This little guy in the series was just a toy of Zatch, but here he has been converted into a real combat mecha with powerful attacks of taking out heavy artillery and cannons laser.

Zatch Collections[]

The Zatch Collections is a special menu that shows all the items obtained by the player in the different game modes. The items in the collection are objects that refer to characters and situations from the anime. These are achieved by achieving certain unspecified objectives, such as completing the story mode with each character, winning the mini-games or beating the Survival mode. There are a total of 50 collectible items, although most of them have no use, getting them all is necessary to unlock the secret characters.
