Konjiki no Gash Bell!! Go! Go! Mamono Fight!! (金色のガッシュベル!! ゴー!ゴー!魔物ファイト!! Konjiki no Gasshu Beru!! Gō! Gō! Mamono Fight!!, lit. "Golden Gash Bell!! Go! Go! Demon Fight!!") is a video game for PlayStation 2 and GameCube which was developed by Eighting[1] and was published by Bandai on December 15, 2005. The fighting gameplay style is similar to Super Smash Bros. with four-player multiplayer[2], as well as few other video games like Konjiki no Gash Bell!! Unare! Yūjō no Zakeru Dream Tag Tournament.

General Information[]

Konjiki no Gashbell!!: Go! Go! Mamono Fight!! is a platform fighting video game for four players, where different characters from the Zatch Bell anime compete! . The fighters included were taken from the 3rd season of the anime (the Faudo stage). This title is the tenth based on this series and offers a very different way of playing than the previous ones, clearly inspired by Nintendo 's Super Smash Bros. video game.

The video game is designed so that four players can play and compete simultaneously in combat on large stages with platforms. In this game, the mamodos fight alone, although their human companions are still shown behind the scenes and their voices can be heard reciting spells and making comments throughout the battle.

The graphics used are polygonal 3D, with cel-shading style shading that gives the characters an anime look. Many character models and animations were recycled from the previous game Zatch Bell!: Mamodo Battles . The perspective used is lateral, with a classic 2D game form and automatic zooming of the screen. The game's music is completely new and maintains a similar style to its predecessor. All characters were voiced by their original voice actors, heard during the fight and in the story mode's long dialogues.

The gameplay is very simple, using only one or two buttons for the different attacks. The difficulty is well balanced and beating the computer becomes challenging and sometimes problematic, without becoming too difficult or frustrating. This game leaves out the story of the anime, and is instead about a dream tournament, organized by Dr. Riddles , that brings together the most popular characters from all seasons of the anime.

Mechanics[]

Konjiki no Gashbell!!: Go! Go! Mamono Fight!! is a fighting video game with side-view platforms. The player must choose one of the selectable mamodo fighters and engage in combat against other characters. The fights can be between 2, 3, or 4 depending on the game mode and the rule is all against all or battles can also be formed with teams. All battles are determined by a time limit. The player's goal is to get the best possible score within the playing time.

Points are scored by attacking the opponent and collecting items. Defeating an enemy adds a huge amount of pts. which can quickly put the player at the forefront of the fight. Likewise, being defeated subtracts a lot of pts. and we must try to avoid it. A large score bar appears at the bottom of the screen, showing the position of all the players and who has the score advantage. It is extremely useful to take a look at it frequently to know who to get off.

Fighters have a life bar that decreases when they receive damage and appears at the top of the screen. When this runs out, the character loses a life and leaves the playing field for a short time, but then returns with a new full life bar. Fighters have infinite lives, so they are never eliminated. However, losing a life subtracts many points and gives an advantage to the character who defeated the player.

Fighters have the ability to walk, run and jump freely throughout the playing field. They can use different normal blows and spells to damage the opponent or for other functions such as healing, strengthening, and paralyzing the enemy. Spells, unlike previous games, can be used freely and without limits. Characters can also take cover to take minimal damage when hit.

Scenarios[]

The scenarios are interactive and are made up of platforms, on which the players can move, and traps of all kinds, which hurt the characters and which must always be alert to avoid. Some stages even have traps that take away an entire life.

All stages are fixed screen and are made up of two screens, between which the fighters come and go from time to time. The only different scenario is the "Construction Zone" which consists of a long path in which the screen advances automatically and the fighters must keep up with it while fighting each other.

  • Mochinoki School
  • Construction Zone
  • The Quarry
  • White Christmas
  • Moonstone

Wizard Box[]

This box causes whoever hits it first to receive instant help from a random assistant character who will attack all enemies.

  • Big Boing: With her boing blow, she causes all nearby opponents to be stunned and still for a long time.
  • Naomi: Passes her cart at full speed across the screen, running over any opponent in her path.
  • Mecha Vulcan: The giant robot Mecha-Vulcan appears and fires a laser beam that covers the entire playing field and creates a rapid fire.
  • Faudo: It's gigantic fist will hit the battlefield three times.

Power Cards[]

Cards are items that appear randomly on the playing field very frequently. They grant a special advantage to the character who grabs it and activates it. They can also be stolen, if a character has a card and is knocked down, it will drop and another can grab it. This is why it is better to use them as soon as possible.

  • Red Card: Recovers the players health.
  • Green Card: Turns the player giant for a while. With this, they have increased attack power and better range and are more difficult to take down, but cannot use spells.
  • Silver Card: Allows you to use the powerful "Final Spell."
  • Blue Card: The player goes into wild mode for a while. In this mode, they run at full speed, are invulnerable, and knock down the opponent with just a touch.
  • Yellow Card: Extends the time limit by 10 seconds.

Slot Machine[]

The slot machine is another helpful item that appears from time to time on the playing field and shows a draw on the screen, and also grants a point bonus. The 1st slot always shows the player who hits the machine first. The 2nd slot shows one of the enemies at random, who will become the first's companion for a short time and they will not be able to hurt each other. The 3rd slot shows a punishment that is given to the two remaining enemies and they must endure this disadvantage for the duration of the machine's effect.

  • Cross (X): Without effect, you gain no points or advantages.
  • Drain Life: Opponents' health bar will slowly decrease.
  • Shrink: Opponents will become smaller, weaker against attacks, and will not be able to use spells.
  • Shield Breaker: Opponents will not be able to use defensive moves.
  • Confusion: Opponents will have their controls reversed, so it will be very difficult for them to move and fight.

Most of the characters in this game are already unlocked, but a rest only is unlocked by playing Demonic Horror Mode and reaching a score of 50.000 points with each character.
