Jiza (ジーザ, Jīza) is a mamodo that appears in the Konjiki no Gash!! Gaiden: Friend as the main antagonist of the story.
Appearance[]
Jiza has the appearance of a massive, demonic creature resembling a fusion between a gorilla and a horned beast. He has an enormous, muscular body with disproportionately large arms and hands that nearly reach the ground. His legs are thick and sturdy, ending in clawed feet adorned with ringed cuffs. Jiza’s face is skeletal and monstrous, featuring sharp teeth, hollow eyes, and two horns emerging from his head curling upward. His hair is a wild, dark mane that expands outward in all directions, emphasizing his intimidating and primal presence.
Personality[]
Jiza is portrayed as a cruel, greedy, and power-hungry mamodo who embodies the darker side of ambition and opportunism. His imposing, monstrous appearance mirrors his ruthless and domineering personality. Jiza has no loyalty or compassion, he manipulates and exploits others purely for his own benefit. His interaction with Muumu reveals his manipulative nature; he deceives the poor boy by promising food and money in exchange for betraying Zatch, only to steal everything back once his goal is achieved.
Jiza’s behavior reflects a total lack of empathy and honor. He views relationships as tools for advancement and sees violence and fear as means to power. His ambition escalates to delusion, believing he could overthrow Zatch and become the new King of the Mamodo World. Jiza’s arrogance and cruelty ultimately lead to his downfall when Zatch overcomes him through the power of genuine friendship, a quality Jiza completely lacks and fails to understand.
Biography[]
Background[]
After the events of the Mamodo Battle, Jiza appears as a menacing and power-hungry mamodo living in the Mamodo World.
Gaiden: Friend[]
Jiza encounters a young, impoverished boy named Muumu, who lives alone with a tattered doll he calls his “big sister.” Exploiting Muumu’s desperation, Jiza convinces the boy that King Zatch Bell is a selfish ruler who doesn’t care about the poor. To gain Muumu’s trust, Jiza bribes him with food and money, ordering him to steal the King’s Wand (王杖, ōtsue)—a sacred artifact that prevents Mamodo within fifty meters from casting spells, except for the wand’s wielder. Muumu reluctantly obeys, taking the wand from Zatch and handing it to Jiza. With the King’s magic sealed, Jiza immediately attacks Zatch using his spell Bidyuron, overpowering him with ease. Once he obtains what he wants, Jiza cruelly betrays Muumu—snatching back the money, kicking the boy aside, and stomping on his small wooden home. He then attempts to kill Muumu with Bidyuosen, a follow-up spell, but Zatch protects the child from harm.
Unrelenting, Jiza unleashes his ultimate attack, Negurono Zoou Bidyun, intending to destroy both Zatch and Muumu and seize control of the Mamodo World. With his magic suppressed by the wand, Zatch appears powerless—until, in the Human World, Kiyo Takamine instinctively calls out “Baou Zakeruga!” while briefly sensing his connection to Zatch’s red spellbook. Miraculously, Zatch channels the spell through his own body, bypassing the wand’s spell-negating field and striking Jiza down with a massive burst of lightning. Jiza is defeated by the combined strength of Zatch’s will and the enduring bond between King and partner. His ultimate fate after the battle remains unknown.[1]
