Gelios (ゲリュオス, Geryuosu) and John Owen (ジョン・オーエン, Jon Ōen)[2] are an ancient Mamodo team who confronted Zatch Bell and Kiyo Takamine and Tia and Megumi Oumi, along with Alm. Gelios's spells usually involve Body Enhancement Magic.
Appearance[]
Gelios is a colossal, serpentine mamodo with the fearsome traits of both a dragon and a sea serpent. His body is long and winding, covered in segmented plating that reinforces his immense size and durability. His head is large and angular, with sharp, predatory features, a gaping maw filled with long, pointed fangs, and a forked tongue. Blue mane-like frills surround his neck, enhancing his intimidating presence, while horn-like projections extend backward from his head, reminiscent of a court jester. His purple-and-cream color scheme emphasizes his serpentine design, while his immense scale makes him tower over humans and most mamodos alike.
John Owen, his current bookkeeper, has the appearance of a disciplined baseball player. He is tall, muscular, and square-jawed, with a face marked by determination and grit. He has short blond hair mostly covered by a black baseball helmet, and his striped jersey, matching pants, and protective gear.

Background[]
Gelios participated in the previous battle 1,000 years ago to decide the Mamodo King. At some point during the battle, Gelios ran into Goren of the Stone and Maurice and was turned into a stone tablet by his spell, Dioga Gorugojio. After being trapped in a stone tablet for 1,000 years, Gelios was returned to his body by Zofis when he used the Stone of Moonlight on him and the other ancient mamodo trapped in stone. John is not Gelios' original partner and, under normal circumstances, would be unable to read the spellbook or activate its spells. However, through Zofis’ mental manipulation, the cognitive dissonance between the descendants and the spellbook was forcibly synchronized. This artificial alignment allows John to read and cast the spells as though he were Gelios’ rightful partner.
Part I[]
Gelios about to attack
Gelios is at the water reservatory, along with Alm, protecting it from any intruder, and then they meet Kanchomé, who distracts them into a trap. After this, Ganz appears and he's taken for Kanchomé and Folgore (after Ponygon follow them). However, Alm and Gelios wake up and start attacking Zatch, Kiyo, Tia and Megumi. After using Akuru on them, Kiyo makes a plan to escape from Gelios' attack. The two ancient mamodo then follow they into a more lower arena. There Zatch starts using a strategy to burn their books: Don't hit the bookkeepers. Later, they use their strongest spells: Egudorisu Neshiruga, Baou Zakeruga, Gigano Dioderuku and Ma Seushirudo. While those attacks cancel each other, Megumi gets Alm and Gelios' books. Seeing that there's no chance of winning, Alm tells to them everything that he knows, and fades along with Gelios.
In the manga Gelios's spirit is seen assisting Zatch along with the other Mamodo's in his final attack against Clear Note, After Zatch became king he was revived along with the other Mamodos and is shown to be in the same grade as Laila, Pamoon, Hyde, Reycom, Pokkerio, and Paramakion.

- Gelios’s starting location in the human world from the previous battle was possibly in a European country most likely England. Due to John Owen’s heritage.
