Zatch Bell!
Zatch Bell!

The Four Mamodo Prodigies were a group of four elite mamodo children, regarded as some of the most powerful of their generation and undefeatable, except by adult mamodos.[1] What united the prodigies was their exceptional strength, gained either through rigorous special training or overwhelming natural ability. Each of them possessed immense power and skill, capable of fighting on par with soldiers even without the use of spells. In some translations, they are also referred to as the “Invincible Mamodo Children.”

Keith recounting the prodigies

The group is first mentioned by Keith during his battle with Vincent Bari in the third room of Faudo’s Neck. He explains that the group consisted of the elite of the royal family, trained from a young age to fight as soldiers—Zeno Bell; the Mamodo who underwent special training, Brago; and the rumored prodigies of the Dragon Clan, the brothers Ashuron and Elzador.

Some Mamodos may not recognize prodigies at first glance, but many are familiar with them by reputation. An example of this is Tia, who did not recognize Zeno when she first saw him, but already knew that Brago was one of the prodigies. Another case is Keith himself—once a child who could only be defeated by adults (until Bari defeated him in the past)—who wanted to be considered a member of the group. Because of this, he had extensive knowledge of them, yet even he did not recognize Zeno when Zeno seized control of Faudo.

All of the prodigies are shown to be extremely powerful, even without spells, to the extent that only experienced adult soldiers were thought capable of defeating them. However, by the end of the series, this “rule” was overturned, as each of them was defeated by another Mamodo child during the battle to decide the King. Elzador was defeated by Vincent Bari, Ashuron was defeated by Clear Note, and both Zeno and Brago were defeated by Zatch Bell.

Trivia[]

  • The first and nearly only time any of the Four Prodigies were seen together was during the battle against Clear Note, when Ashuron intervened to save Brago and Sherry Belmont from being disintegrated by Clear Note’s Rājia Radisu.
  • Interestingly, there is another group of elite mamodos with exactly four members, the Four Supreme Mamodo, belonging to the previous generation .
