| Overview |
Bago (バーゴ, Bāgo) and Fredo (フリト, Furito) are a human-mamodo team who fought Kanchomé and Parco Folgore after Kanchomé was separated from his partner and joined the circus. Bago's spells mainly use fire magic.
Appearance[]
Bago is a massive, dragon mamodo, but is not part of the Dragon Clan. His body is bulky and reptilian, covered in green scales with a pale yellow underbelly. He has a wide mouth filled with sharp, jagged teeth and long tusk-like fangs that jut out from the sides of his mouth, emphasizing his menacing expression. Two large, sharp horns protrude from the top of his head, and his fierce yellow eyes add to his intimidating presence. His limbs are thick and muscular, ending in clawed hands and feet, while his long tail balances his heavy frame. Extending from his back are a pair of large wings, green on the outside with vivid red undersides, further giving him the appearance of a fearsome dragon. Despite this ferocious form, his childlike personality creates a strong contrast with his intimidating look.
Fredo is a tall, well-built man with sharp features and a stern expression. He has short blond hair styled in a clean, swept-back cut and narrow eyes. He typically wears a reddish-brown suit with a yellow dress shirt and a dark tie, giving him a somewhat flashy yet intimidating presence.
Personality[]
Bago’s fearsome appearance belies a surprisingly innocent nature. With an age of only six years old, he displays a childlike and pure personality. He casually uses the first-person pronoun boku (僕, “I”), and his speech sometimes slips into childish phrases such as “hehehe…” or “uh, yeah,” which accentuate his naïve charm. His youth is reflected in his lack of intelligence and gullibility. He is easily deceived, unable to see through even Kanchomé’s blatantly poor disguises—such as one featuring an absurdly long head—and is tricked into attacking the real Fredo. These lapses emphasize his limited awareness, though they are understandable given his young age.
Bago’s purity, however, is double-edged. He acts on instinct, following his voracious appetite without hesitation, often raiding entire towns and stealing livestock, particularly sheep, to satisfy his hunger. He does not shy away from using violence against those who resist, underscoring the danger of his unchecked impulses. At the same time, he is emotionally sensitive and easily moved by kindness. When Kanchomé disguised himself as Fredo and praised him, Bago reacted with genuine joy, hugging him affectionately. Upon discovering the deception and facing the real Fredo’s scolding, he became upset and embarrassed, but still apologized sincerely. These moments reveal a kinder side to his nature—beneath his ferocity and reckless hunger, Bago remains a childlike, sensitive being who longs for approval and connection.
Fredo is a thug of minimal conscience who relies on Bago's power to do whatever he wants, treating him with scorn whenever he acted foolish. He is openly complicit in Bago’s sheep stealing and speaks harshly to Kanchomé when the latter tries to intervene, suggesting a callous and mocking disposition. At the same time, there are moments that complicate this impression. When Bago, having been deceived by one of Kanchomé’s disguises, accidentally strikes him, Fredo does not lash out in blame, even though he is clearly frustrated. Likewise, while carrying out their thefts, he is shown cooperating smoothly with Bago, hinting at a bond of mutual trust and a measure of camaraderie between them. Perhaps the most intriguing moment comes at the end of their battle. When Folgore burns his spellbook, Fredo sheds tears. The meaning of this reaction is left deliberately unclear—whether it reflects genuine sadness at parting with Bago, or humiliation at his own defeat. This ambiguity captures the complexity of his character: though depicted as arrogant and unkind in action, Fredo is not entirely without depth or emotion.
Biography[]
When Kanchomé was made to work in a circus, he met a young girl named Rushka whose family was struggling with having their sheep stolen. Kanchomé pledged to protect the sheep, but when Bago and Fredo arrived, he was powerless to stop them, breaking the girl's heart. He went off on his own and joined with his partner again, and after a short fight in which Kanchomé refused to give up, he awakened his third spell, Dika Poruk. Fredo attempted to attack the illusory giant of Kanchomé, but the spells proved useless, and after Folgore figured out what the spell had done, he took advantage of their distraction by stealing Bago's spellbook from Fredo and throwing it into a fire, sending Bago back to the Mamodo World. After the battle, he is seen dancing in the Mamodo World with Yopopo, Baransha, Riya, Baltro, and Zoboron, though only his right foot is visible.
