A Real Family (本当の家族 Hontō no Kazoku, lit. "A Real Family") is the sixteenth chapter of the Zatch Bell!/Konjiki no Gash!! manga series by Makoto Raiku, published on September 18, 2001 in Japan and August 2, 2005 in the U.S. in the second volume.
Summary[]
A lost girl in the rain is picked up by a high schooler, Shiori. The girl clings to Shiori and looks around Shiori's house while a bath is drawn. Lori fits the lost girl into her old PJs and cooks dinner for them. The lost girl introduces herself as Koruru while they eat. Koruru also mentions that she has no parents and that she's alone. Shiori gets desert on the promise that she is called nee-san/sister.
Meanwhile Gash begs Kiyomaro to take him to school. Kiyomaro distracts him with a cardboard robot known as Vulcan 300. Gash goes to the park only for Koruru to be at that same park. Koruru knows Gash but Gash doesn't know her so she plays along. Gash ends up comparing Vulcan 300 to Tina, Koruru's friend, and ends up crying when Vulcan's arm falls off. Shiori comes by and Koruru gives her a flower crown. Shiori carries Koruru home having fun.
At Shiori's home, Shiori mentions how she's more of a family with Koruru than she is with her own parents. She promises to protect Koruru as Koruru's bag glows. Shiori pulls out Koruru's book and looks over it. Koruru wakes up crying out that Shiori isn't suppose to read it.
Zeruku...
That night Gash complains about how Vulcan is terrible compared to Tina as Kiyomaro has no clue what's happening. He watches the news to hear of an attack from someone using knives.
